6 Tips for Storing Your Makeup Brushes

Something I've gotten into recently is displaying my makeup brushes. Before I did this most of my brushes were stashed in a drawer and I barely used them. Now that I have them on a shelf where I can see them, I find myself using them more and using ones I don't normally use. I've gone back and forth between different ways of storage for brushes, so I’ve collected a few of my own tips and ideas for storing brushes.

1. Have them somewhere you can see them.

Like I said, now that I see what I have, I'm actually using all of my brushes. This organizer is from IKEA (click here if you want to check it out!) and it's actually supposed to be used to hold plants, but I saw a picture on Pinterest where it was used to display brushes, and I thought that was so smart!

2. Organize them by type.

In the organizer I got from IKEA, each container holds different kinds of brushes. Some I organized by sets, while others by what their purpose is (face brushes, eye brushes, contour, etc). This is helpful because once you know which type of brush you’re looking for, it’ll be easy to find.

3. Use beads to keep your brushes standing straight up.

I got these beads from IKEA (you can click here to see them), but you can really get them anywhere. Michael’s, AC Moore, or any craft store will have them. This is great because it’s so much easier to see what you have when the brushes are standing straight up.

4. Hang containers on the wall for your brushes.

This is a great trick if you don’t want to take up counter space, plus it efficiently uses empty wall space you wouldn't be using otherwise!

5. Store your brushes with a paint brush storage rack.

These can be found at any craft store, and the cool thing about these racks is that they’re using wooden, so you can paint them any color you want and customize it to your liking. I like this idea because all of the brushes are standing and can be easily seen.

6. Label your containers.

I got these labels off of Etsy, but you can print out your own labels and stick them on your brush holders so it’s easy to identify which brushes are which.

I hope this gave you an idea or two on how to store your makeup brushes- I’ve used almost all of these tips and they’ve helped me use more of my brushes. Let me know if you like these short posts or if you like more in-depth ones better; I like writing both… Have an amazing day- may your brushes be aesthetically pleasing and well organized :)
