Ipsy Glam Bag: April Review

Every month at around this time I receive a magenta-colored package in the mail, something I look forward to seeing in my mailbox. Inside is five or six products that come inside a cute makeup bag. If you get a magenta package once a month too, you may know what monthly subscription I’m talking about: Ipsy.

This was my first subscription to a makeup/beauty box, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I haven’t been disappointed yet. I’ve only gotten February, March, and April’s box, and each one has at least 3 products I’m excited about, if not all.

I received April’s box on April 12, which is around the same time I get each month’s box. I think this month’s makeup bag is really cute and clever and I haven’t seen anything like it before. It feels very rubbery, which to me isn’t the best material to use for a makeup bag, since it isn’t very flexible/movable (the only downside to Ipsy boxes is that the makeup bags are kinda small, but they’re pretty good sizes if you’re just putting a few products in for the day). I do like the color of the bag- bright orange- as it kind of excites me about the transition into spring and happier colors.

As for the products, there are 33 products this month that Ipsy sends out, so each subscriber will get a different array of products.

What’s in My April Ipsy Box

  • Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer in Palm Island

This is my favorite thing in this month’s box. I really love the color and I think I may use it more as an eyeshadow and less as a bronzer, since it has more of an orange tone to it and that doesn’t really work well with my skin. I’ve heard of Ciate London, so I have faith that it’ll be a great product.

  • PS Cosmeceutical Infused Nail Lacquer in Southern Sand

I am all about the neutral nail color, so I love this one. It’s a pink shade with a tone of beige/brown, which is one of my favorite colors for my nails. The polish itself is a pretty big size so I’m happy about that.

  • Hanalei Aloe soothing gel for face and body

This is the least exciting product of all of them- I’m not too hyped on skincare, since I’ve got my routine down pat and don’t need any extra products, but maybe I’ll use this for my body (although I’m not sure I have enough for that- the sample is really tiny).

  • Elizabeth Mott Shimmer Shadow and Highlighter in Show Me Your Glow

Even though this is, like, the smallest sample ever, I LOVE this highlighter. I swatched it on my hand and I loved how shimmery it is, then I shone my phone flashlight on the swatch and it looked even more beautiful. Kinda wish the sample was bigger, but maybe I’ll just buy my own:)

  • EM Cosmetics illustrative eyeliner Brush tip

For last month’s box I got an eyeliner (which I LOVE, by the way, and use it every day) so I was kinda bummed I got another one instead of a different kind of makeup product, but I’ll still try this one and use it. I really do love how thin the liner gets at the end, and I’m happy it’s a liquid liner, since those are my favorites.

Overall this month’s box was pretty good; I’d give it a B+, since I’m not too happy I got a soothing gel and another eyeliner, but I liked the other products. If you like these reviews, be sure to watch for May’s Ipsy review next month. Until then, have a wonderful day:)
