I’ve been on a makeup shopping hiatus for the past few months, (I know, someone get me to a Sephora ASAP) but every so often I’ve picked something up that I’ve fallen in love with. Some of these products just came out, while others have been out for a while and I only just jumped on the “Let’s go buy this because everyone else has it” train, but I thought it’d be fun to talk about my newest purchases and give my honest opinion on each product.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerrierro Glow Kit
I got this palette a few weeks ago and let me tell you I LOVE IT! The fact that it’s $40 for 6 highlighters is crazy, since I’ve seen brands price individual highlighters at almost $50. The quality is really great; I’ve never owned a high-end highlighter so it’s a big change for me to go from drugstore to high-end, but I am so happy I did. So far, my favorite shades are Forever Lit and Forever Young. I love the lavender tint in both of those colors. Each color is pigmented and sparkly and BLINDING: perfect for the glowy Instagram look. A+ from me!
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
I purchased the small version of this (it was $16) because I wasn’t about to spend $36 on a primer I’ve never tried before. But I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, as the primer really smooths over your skin and closes all the pores. I like the texture of it, too; it’s a nice, thin layer of product that helps my foundation to apply smoothly. I’ve never been big on primers so it’s a new step in my makeup routine but I’m glad I’ve gotten into it because it’s something you should always wear before applying makeup to ensure your foundation/contouring stays put! A from me!
Beau Gachis Tapered Blending Brush
This came in my March Ipsy box (you should totally think about getting your own Ipsy subscription- maybe I’ll write a blog post about it!) and I was so excited to find there was a brush in it, since I’ve never spent my money on makeup brushes. It’s very sleek and pretty looking, which I like, plus it’s got soft bristles. It blends really nicely, but the only thing I don’t like is I tried using it to highlight my cheekbones with the Glow Kit palette, but the brush didn’t pick up as much product as I wanted it to- it may not be the right brush for highlighting. But otherwise, I like this brush! B+ from me!
Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray
Of course, I didn’t realize when I bought this that this setting spray is to control oil. And since I don’t have oily skin, I don’t know how valid my opinion is of this product. But, I will say it gives my finished look a dewy/glowy sheen that I like a lot, and it seems to do a pretty good job of keeping my makeup in place. B from me!
I will always give you my real, true opinion of every product I try. I think it’s interesting to read about what people actually think of things, instead of hearing the sugar-coated version. If you want me to do more of these every so often, I definitely will! Leave a comment below:)
