There's an app for everything. Seriously. You want an endless amount of recipes for any and every meal? Check. You want to create and record your own songs? Check. Nowadays some of the most popular apps are photo editing ones, and since I know first hand how overwhelming it can be trying to choose which one to download, here I am to narrow it down and give you my top five favorite editing apps- and they're all free.
1. VSCO Cam
I know everyone talks about this one, but it is seriously my favorite editing app. I use it for my Instagram pictures, and it's great for getting all the pictures to look cohesive. VSCO is perfect for enhancing the bright colors, as you can see from the before and after pictures.
2. PicsArt
PicsArt is great for the simple editing, like adding filters and things like that, but I mostly use it for face editing if there's a blemish or shadow on someone's face. I use the "denoise" tool to smooth out skin- this example is a little drastic just because it's close up, but with a picture of a subject from far away, it makes a huge difference. I also use it for collages, like the side-by-side before and after pictures you see on this post:)
3. Superimpose
This is definitely my favorite Photoshop app- I used to use it all the time to lay pictures on top of each other for my old Taylor Swift Instagram account, (@wemadequiteamessbabe) which is where the example is from.
4. Squaready
This is the simplest app since it only does one thing: line your pictures with a border of any color and size. I used this all the time when my Instagram theme had white borders on all of my pictures.
5. Afterlight
I don't use this app a lot, since it's pretty similar to VSCO, but when I do use it I increase the clarity/sharpness of the image.
If you download any of these apps, be sure to tweet me with your results! I'd love to see them:) And remember: don't let anyone make fun of you for taking pictures. If you think your food is pretty, take a picture of your food. This is what makes our generation our generation- and I think it's important to remember that we should not shame others for doing things that make them happy. If photography makes you smile, there's no question: do it.
