I don't know about you, but I LOVE taking pictures. Having something captured in a square on a screen to look back on makes me really happy, and the very acts of taking and editing a picture are fun to me. I especially love taking pictures during the fall- leaves, pumpkins, fall fashion... Everything about autumn screams "photoshoot" to me. Sadly, there aren't many more days of fall left; the Earth will soon be in the in-between of fall and winter, which isn't a super fun transition. It isn't all that pretty and it starts to get cold:( But while there are still pretty leaves on the trees and the ground, here are some photos I've taken and edited that you can look to for inspiration when taking fall photos.
1. Phone Inception {edited}
This is a super Tumblr-y picture to take- find a fall background, like leaves, and set a phone to the camera app. Take a picture of the phone! I increased the saturation to bring out the yellow in the leaves.
2. Fall Window {edited}
I took this on a rainy day and decreased the exposure to make the window the main focus and almost blur everything else out. This is such a pretty picture to take- simple, pleasing to the eye, and looks extra cool when there's some kind of weather going on besides sun, like snow or rain.
3. Driving {edited}
I took this in the backseat of a car when we were driving upstate. It was a little rainy, and since we were driving, the picture came out slightly blurred, which to me one adds to the picture. I increased the saturation a little to make the orange leaves pop.
4. Fall Fashion {edited}
This is a cool picture because you only get a little of the outfit- the rip in my jeans, the sleeve of my flannel. I took this in the car and I increased the saturation.
5. Rainy Leaves {edited}
I was walking home and thought the street looked super cool- it was shiny right after the rain and the sun was giving it a pretty "glow". I decreased the exposure to make the street darker and increased temperature to brighten the leaves. Add to the picture by including your shoes in it, like I did.
6. Fall Shoes {not edited}
This is a cute idea to take with a friend. Find a pretty floor to set the picture (leaves are the most common, as you can see from previous pictures).
7. Red Cup Season! {not edited}
How can you not take a picture of these pretty, doodled red cups? Find a pretty background and take your picture. My background is just a white wall (not very festive or fun) but it's very simplistic and that can be pretty, too.
All in all, take pictures of what you think is pretty, "artsy", appealing to the eye, something you want to remember, something you don't want to forget. If you think your food is pretty, take a picture of it. Don't let anyone ridicule you for standing on a chair in a crowded restaurant to get the perfect picture of your meal. I speak for myself when I say photography is an outlet and platform for creativity- don't let people make fun of you for that.
keep taking pictures. of absolutely. anything.
