August Favorites

August Favorites!

The days are slipping by and August is coming to an end. Unfortunately, for most of us that means school is around the corner as well. But there is one benefit to the start of a new month: monthly favorites! I think these types of posts are fun to read about- let me know if you think so as well by leaving a comment! So, without further ado, here are some of the things I thoroughly enjoyed during the month of August!

This shirt has been worn so much this month that the color is starting to fade. OK- maybe I'm just being dramatic, but I really have worn this shirt quite a bit. I purchased it from Charlotte Russe, which might as well be a favorite of mine for this month too. I went to the mall a few times in August and each time I've gone, I made a stop at Charlotte Russe. I really love the shirts they carry and the prices are pretty affordable. Anyways, I love the mauve-type color and the dream catcher design. It goes with a ton of things- you could wear it with shorts, tucked into a skirt, whatever you feel comfortable in. I especially like that it is loose so it's not sticking to my body with the heat.

My mom gave me this little wristlet around a year ago and I've finally started to use it more. It's by Dooney & Burke so it's a little more expensive but I love it!! My phone fits perfectly in it along with whatever else I need (lipgloss and/or money definitely would fit alongside a phone). I've brought this along when going into town with my friends or on vacation. It's the perfect size and the colors will be even better in the fall!

These are the Ray Ban Polarized sunglasses, and unfortunately they aren't made anymore, but there are tons of similar styles out there. I LOVE these sunglasses- I wear them every time I leave the house. I like how they look in pictures and I just feel so stylish when wearing them, almost like if I step out of my car there'll be paparazzi waiting for me (in my dreams).

This little poof-ball (more commonly referred to as a "bag charm", but I think poof-ball is funnier) was purchased at Claire's. It's white and medium-sized and was a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a super expensive one from places like Fendi or Topshop. These kinds of keychains are really popular right now and I think they're so cute and fun. I've been putting it on the wristlet shown in a few pictures above. I love how fluffy it is and that it totally adds something unique to whatever I'm wearing. For example, one of the times that I wore this on my wristlet, I was wearing a black shirt with denim shorts. Pretty casual, right? But having this on my wristlet brought a tiny pop of color and was able to catch the eye.

These olive green shorts are from Charlotte Russe and I've been pairing them with the mauve shirt I talked about earlier. These shorts are SO comfortable, something that is important to me especially in the summer when it can get humid and sticky and just UNcomfortable. I also like the color, one that I don't own many clothing items in. These shorts bring a unique addition to my outfits.

I realize after taking this picture that if you squint at it, the object looks like an Oreo, when in reality it's just my favorite dark eyeshadow. It's Bobbi Brown's shadow in Navy and I use it with an angled brush on my lash line. If I'm doing winged eyeliner, I like to make the wing with liquid liner then "set" it with this shadow. It's super long lasting, doesn't smudge, but blends nicely. It's really good to wear if you're going to be out all day and not have time to touch up your makeup. It's also an added bonus that it doesn't slide off my face, since August is hot.

This book is called House Rules by Jodi Picoult. Before I say any more, I'm nowhere near the end of the book so no spoilers, please! So far, though, it's good. It's a pretty big book so it's taking me a while to get through the pages but I am enjoying it. The narration shadows several characters, including Jacob, an eighteen-year old who has a type of autism. He loves solving crimes and gets into a real one where the police are involved and his friend/social tutor goes missing. I definitely recommend it, as I would other works by Picoult. I've read a bunch of her books and loved every one of them!

This is Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl liquid highlighter. It is so pigmented and beautiful- is it bad that this highlighter makes me feel like I'm in a music video 24/7? I love how it applies and blends, along with the fact that it doesn't melt off my face because of the heat (a very important quality for makeup to have, as I don't think anyone walks out the door in the summer with a plan to look like a raccoon once the heat gets to them).

The circled color in this picture is from the Bella Il Fiore, Bela in Bloom face palette. During this month, it has become my favorite highlighting powder that I've ever used. I discovered how great it is in the end of July and brought it with me when I went on vacation. This whole palette is gorgeous but this highlighter especially is really amazing. I put it over the Benefit liquid highlighter that I just talked about- they go great together! Every time I've gone out this month, I've used this highlighter. It definitely adds to the music video feeling.

I bought these plaid pajama bottoms at Forever 21 at the end of July. They are so silky and comfy- I wear them to bed every night! If it were pajama day in school, I'd definitely wear these. They're comfortable but also really cute when it comes to things you wear to sleep.

I bought this gold choker from Claire's a while back and I've recently worn it with a bunch of different outfits. It's super dainty and pretty, but since it's a choker, it adds a hint of edginess to every look it is worn with. I can honestly say that it looks good with pretty much any outfit.

So that was my August favorites! August was a truly fun month for me- a lot of activities were on my calendar and I definitely have a lot more coming up- my birthday is tomorrow;)

I'd love to know what some of your favorite products/clothes/books were in August, so leave a comment! I hope you all have a beautiful day/afternoon/night:)
